The general idea I (Ehud) proposed was marrying wikis and instant non-judgmental interaction of the kind found when students engage in programming (the best example is the Logo programming language created by Seymour Papert). What if students were able to collaborate on wiki pages in which part of the information was coded so simulation tools etc. would provide instant feedback. For example chemical reactions could be encoded as ChemML, CellML etc.

We (Ehud and Joshua) discussed several related approaches:

Joshua: The general concept is topic semantics.

It was interesting to realize the big difference between using wikis as a tool for educators creating content (e.g., Curriki) and using wikis in the classroom. There's quite a lot of exploring to do in both fields, and while both are education related they seem to call for different skills sets and pose different technological demands.
