XWiki - Structured programmable wiki, similar in idea to original jotspot

Tension between structure and freedom

XWiki
Structured from the start
Structured data issues with twiki

Still a wiki or an application that live in a wiki

Structured type templates added through the web
Users can add more structures
After data has been added to a class proprty changes become limited

Structure is trickier to work with than content
Something like a blog can be implemented on top of the wiki rather than a separate app living in wiki space
Xwiki is an explicit structure wiki
Semantic Mediawiki is an implicit
Implicit can be lossy
Implicit is difficult to get right
Wiki means mass collaboration? (Is Xwiki still a wiki?)
User interaction with the structure of the content
Mix of structured and unstructured content
Access control turns it into something more like a cms
Xwiki encourages users to not use access controls on editing
Add unstructured first, structure codification of existing conventions

Mind drifted to the discussion at this point
